Safeguarding is:

- protecting children from maltreatment


- preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development


- ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care


- taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes

Safeguarding at Bowling Park Primary school is everyone's responsibility. However, we have a team of staff to whom specific safeguarding concerns should be reported:

Safeguarding is Everyone's Responsibility 

All staff at Bowling Park know to:


- On the discovery, disclosure or suspicion of abuse, ACT. Staff know that if they are in doubt, they should ACT.  


- Inform the Named person for Child Protection (Safeguarding Team) immediately and ensure this written down on a Bowling Park Concern Form or on CPOMS (CPOMS is a secure, online system for recording and monitoring safeguarding concerns)


- Where necessary, make a referral to Children’s Social Care themselves. Staff know to ring Children’s Social Care Initial Contact Point on 01274 435600 or the Emergency Duty Team on 01274 431010.

Safeguarding Training

All staff are trained on Safeguarding and understand the importance of safeguarding our students.

Safeguarding training consists of face-to-face training, online e-learning modules, a knowledge testing quiz, mandatory reading, weekly staff updates and specialist training where required All staff are required to read and understand the Statutory guidance for schools and colleges on safeguarding children.

We always follow the most up-to-date safeguarding guidance and update our policies accordingly.
